Sorin & Shaunna C.

Don't cry over the past, it's gone. Don't stress over the future, it hasn't arrived. Live in the present and make it beautiful.

Originally from Southern California (Romania and Toronto, Canada for Mr. C), we originally settled down in Northern Alabama on our very own homestead. We get asked, a lot actually, why we would move to Alabama from California; for us the answer is simple – we longed for a simpler life. We had made plans to leave California with no idea where we wanted to go, only knowing that we wanted to move away from the traffic and the busy urban lifestyle that we’d been accustomed to. It wasn’t until close friends of ours moved to Birmingham did we consider Alabama as an option for us.

As much as we enjoyed Alabama, we did miss parts of city living and, thanks to Mr. C’s job, moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana. We have a significantly smaller property (from 20 acres down to 3) but we are making the most out of it and enjoying the fact that we have a Target only 5 minutes away.

Mr. C is an engineer by trade, originally graduating with his degree in Aerospace Engineering. He enjoys building things with circuits, reading about electronics in his spare time, and is thrilled to have a ride-on snow plow to play with as well. Mrs.C trains horses, specifically wild mustangs, is an artist and an avid cook. We’re both animal advocates, with a serious love of Dachshunds and Tibetan Mastiffs, share a love of computer games (Rimworld, World of Warcraft, Age of Empires, Stardew Valley, etc…), and enjoy home renovation projects a little more than we should.

Although we may not fit the traditional mold when it comes to homesteading, we are here, doing things our own way,  and, most importantly, we’re happy.
